Karachi chapter started 2017 , first programme . With the stunning scenic view of the Quaid’s Mausoleum as a backdrop, Team Young Women Writers’ Forum Karachi Chapter successfully conducted their first event titled, SHOR on 10 December 2017. Aiming to promote the culture of poetry in Karachi, the team conducted the event on Open Mic format where many enthusiastic participants recited their beautiful verses. Each and every one of us is going through an internal or external battle. We fight, we cry, we fall and then stand up again to face our demons. This is the reason why the program’s theme was, ‘Struggles’ to bring in unique perspectives and hardships of regular people so that we as a society should value the imagination, ideas, and energies of women in general. The commendable factor is that it was an event solely organized by women to foster talented

poets around the city. We were pleased to witness the overwhelming response we received and were glad that people of different religious, ethnic and social backgrounds all gathered together under the starry sky in such a chilly weather to enjoy soulful poetry.

Our chapter started in August 2017 with a handful of members but within the short span of just three months, we were able to revive the spirit of the old cosmopolitan Karachi by an event of such grandeur.

Team Karachi Chapter is fairly new, but we are working to play a pivotal role regarding the revival of poetry and prose culture in the city of lights.
