What drives us to do what we do?

Historically speaking ,the literacy rate in Pakistan is very  low ,  specifically in girls abysmally low than other underdeveloped nations. It is the main cause for poverty, ignorance, and exploitation for the rights of women. Unfortunately, these barriers have always stopped women to participate in the social sector and made Pakistan a male-dominated industry. Our country has a social system in which men hold power over women. In most of the villages in Pakistan, she is not a “wanted” child. Her father decides for her education to marriage. After marriage her husband decides on her behalf. Multiple forms of violence include rape, domestic abuse, murder, mutilation, burning, disfiguring faces by acids, torture, etc. Women are never given respect in public places. In this atmosphere women became silent observers of injustices and passive receivers of decisions over time. A little participation of a few bold women has hardly been valued and appreciated. As a result, female folk have little role to play effectively to contributing the development of the country. So far, the contribution of educated women has been limited to medical and educational institutions. The absence of strong and successful female role models has further prohibited our literate and educated women to actively contribute to national progress. It is a common observation that a good number of educated women who are now living as intellectually inactive housewives had been very active and intellectually creative and contributor in their student times. However, after marriage or a non-supportive atmosphere has resulted in passivity and ineffectiveness in terms of intellectual contribution. This is corroborated by the absence of a suitable platform to support and encourage women to continue their creative expressions IN this male dominated society, the man has to provide equal rights and space to women, otherwise violence will increase blindingly . It was a dire need of a platform, which could provide regular and equal opportunities to semi and highly educated women as well as housewives to meet, share, discuss and reflect on minor and major issues concerning their creative work and social problems of the country.
